Common Clay has created an exclusive range of ceramic tableware that is inspired by the playful and dynamic patterns, colours and motifs here at Charleston. All pieces are hand-made and unique, made with stoneware clay and decorated with slips, wax-resist designs and colourful glazes at the Common Clay studio in Bexhill-on-sea, East Sussex.

Product details

Common Clay is a ceramics studio based in Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex, offering small batch handmade ceramics, artist memberships, community workshops, residencies, classes, social events and exhibitions. The studio was set up by artist Carla Wright in 2018 to provide a shared, open and experimental making space for artists working with clay, whilst developing a contemporary range of ceramic tableware. Inspired by the playful and dynamic nature of the Charleston artists, Carla used certain motifs and patterns from the house’s interior and sculptures from the garden that she thinks portray their freedom and fluidity. Each piece is hand-built and decorated with coloured slips, wax resist and glazes at the Common Clay studio.
