The artist Duncan Grant designed ‘Grapes’ in 1932 for Allan Walton Textiles. The firm commissioned fabric designs from leading artists during the 1930s. This fabric reproduction features bold patterns and a vibrant yellow background.

Dual-purpose fabric suitable for both upholstery and drape. This fabric is not inherently fire retardant. If using for upholstery, use a fire-retardant barrier lining.

Technical information

Duncan Grant (1885-1978) was a member of the Bloomsbury group. He was a prolific artist, one of the most celebrated and successful in the mid-twentieth century. Influenced by French Post-Impressionism he experimented in fine art and design. In 1913 he co-founded the design enterprise The Omega Workshops alongside fellow artist Vanessa Bell and art critic Roger Fry. He first moved to Charleston in 1916 at the height of the First World War and lived and worked here until his death in 1978.
