The artist Vanessa Bell designed 'Maud' in 1913 for the Omega Workshops, a design enterprise she co-founded. It sold homewares inspired by post-impressionism, a popular European art movement. It features a repeating abstract geometric design.

Product details

Vanessa Bell (1879–1961) was an artist and member of the Bloomsbury group. During the early 20th century, her works were among the first fully abstract paintings by British artists. Although she is best remembered as a painter, Vanessa was also a prolific designer of textiles, carpets and embroidery, as well as a pioneering decorator of ceramics, furniture and domestic objects – not to mention the interiors themselves. In 1913 she co-founded the design enterprise The Omega Workshops alongside fellow artist Duncan Grant and art critic Roger Fry. She first moved to Charleston in 1916 at the height of the First World War and lived and worked here until her death in 1961.
